Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development (QF), was founded in 2010 to continue fulfilling QF’s vision of unlocking human potential. HBKU is a homegrown research and graduate studies University that acts as a catalyst for positive transformation in Qatar and the region while having a global impact.

The College of Islamic Studies (CIS) at HBKU was founded with a vision to be a beacon for contemporary Islamic scholarship and thought. It serves as a platform for meaningful intellectual and cultural dialogue on Islam and Muslims, addressing pressing questions facing Muslim communities locally and globally. Through its postgraduate programs and research centers, CIS aims to advance the understanding of Islam and Muslims, nurturing graduates capable of thriving in a rapidly evolving world.

The Research Center for Islamic Legislation & Ethics (CILE) stands as a pioneering and distinctive institution globally, specializing in the broad field of Islamic Ethics, encompassing both its theoretical underpinnings and its practical applications. Renowned for its academic leadership and extensive network of international collaborators, CILE has spearheaded numerous initiatives in research and related endeavors within the field. Collaborating with esteemed institutions worldwide, CILE has convened numerous international conferences, research seminars, symposia, and major international events. In partnership with Brill, a distinguished publisher in Islamic Studies, CILE established the Scopus-Indexed Journal of Islamic Ethics and the book series “Studies in Islamic Ethics”. On the educational front, the CIS launched the groundbreaking M.A. program in Applied Islamic Ethics in 2019—the first of its kind.
